Holocaust Memorial Center Promotes Rebecca Swindler to Director of Programs

As director of programs, Swindler is responsible for the Holocaust Memorial Center’s exhibit, educational and historical programs, including exhibit openings, member/donor programs and cultural/film events.

Farmington Hills, MI, January 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Holocaust Memorial Center Zekelman Family Campus (www.holocaustcenter.org) in Farmington Hills announced the promotion of Rebecca Swindler to its director of programs.

As director of programs, the Novi resident is responsible for the Holocaust Memorial Center’s exhibit, educational and historical programs, including exhibit openings, member/donor programs and cultural/film events. Swindler, who began her career at the Holocaust Memorial Center as an intern five years ago, also currently serves as the organization’s social media and web master, database manager and internship coordinator. Additionally, she is the interim director of education.

“Rebecca’s work ethic and skills made it a very easy decision to promote her to become director of programs,” said Holocaust Memorial Center Executive Director Stephen M. Goldman. “She has helped us create several relevant and well-attended events in recent years that have enabled us to continue our mission of developing programs that best capture the interest and imagination of our visitors.”

Prior to joining the Holocaust Memorial Center, the New Boston native worked at the Environmental Interpretive Center at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she graduated summa cum laude with a major in anthropology and a minor in German. Swindler also volunteered at the Father Sebastian Englert Anthropological Museum during an archaeological field school on Easter Island.

It is the mission of the Holocaust Memorial Center Zekelman Family Campus to remember those who perished and those who survived the Holocaust and, in a world increasingly faced with sectarian strife and intolerance, to set forth the lessons of Holocaust as a model for teaching ethical conduct and responsible decision-making. By highlighting those individuals who, in the midst of evil, stood for the best, rather than the worst of human nature, the Holocaust Memorial Center seeks to contribute to maintaining an open and free society.

The facility is wheelchair accessible and free parking is available at both the North and South entrances.
