Fairhaven Memorial Park Receives "Keeping It Personal" Award

Recognized for 100th Anniversary Community Celebration.

Santa Ana, CA, February 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, Calif. has won an Honorable Mention in the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association’s (ICCFA) 2011 Keeping It Personal (KIP) Awards, recognizing the best in personalization in the cemetery, funeral service and cremation profession.

Created by the ICCFA Personalization Committee, the KIP program honors recipients in five categories. Fairhaven Memorial Park was honored in the Events category for its 100th anniversary celebration, an “old-fashioned family fair” to thank the community for allowing Fairhaven to provide the families of Orange County with 100 years of “service from the heart.”

The festivities began with president Marla Noel recognizing that it is Fairhaven’s caring and dedicated staff that has allowed them to reach such a monumental occasion. The ensuing program included:

- A “Capturing the Uniqueness of Orange County’s History” photo contest with a $250 prize
- A “History Hunt” where participants received clues that led them from historically significant graves or features at Fairhaven
Carnival games, a bake off, a pie-eating contest and other games and activities
- A horse-drawn carriage
- A concert in the park
- A VIP wine and cheese reception where guests received a commemorative picnic basket to enjoy during the evening concert
- A culminating fireworks display to conclude the evening

“We were extremely pleased with the broad range and high quality of entries to the KIP Awards program this year,” said Steve Bittner, chair of the ICCFA’s Personalization Committee. “The staff at Fairhaven Memorial Park demonstrates a strong commitment to serving the community and to providing meaningful services to cemeteries and the families that they serve. They are true leaders within our profession and are very deserving of this prestigious award.”

The ICCFA’s 2011 KIP Awards contest drew 58 entries from across the United States, Canada, China and Guatemala. Marketing and communications professionals from outside the cemetery and funeral service profession performed the judging.

All KIP Awards recipients will be recognized at the ICCFA Annual Convention & Exposition, March 19-22 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in ICCFA Magazine.
