WWF Switzerland & Chaordix® Launch Crowdsourcing Contest to Engage Swiss Startups in Sustainable Consumption Ideas for Future Generations

Calgary, Canada, June 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Chaordix® platform invites Switzerland's innovators to submit ideas ranging from eco-manufacturing practices to optimizing the use of meat and dairy products.

Chaordix®, the global standard in crowdsourced market intelligence, is pleased to announce the launch of a second major crowdsourcing program for the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF Switzerland). This contest will engage the Swiss public in a quest to find innovative and commercially-viable sustainable consumption ideas. The Chaordix’® crowdsourcing community, WWF Green Ideas, will be available in French and German languages for all inhabitants of Switzerland to participate in from June to September 2012.

The WWF and Swiss supermarket cooperative, Migros, are collaborating in this program to find ideas to counteract the use of goods and services jeopardizing the earth’s natural resources. These "green" solutions will address five main topics: 1) manufacturing and utilising products in a more sustainable way, 2) increasing product lifecycles, 3) avoiding the discarding of meat and dairy products (wherever possible), 4) ensuring that consumers can better identify products that are extremely durable, made of sustainable raw materials, and produced by eco-friendly manufacturers, 5) reducing the manufacturing of products by using alternative solutions like “sharing rather than owning."

Chaordix® has brought its Crowd Intelligence™ process and advanced technology platform to this program in order to effectively distill the ideas submitted into actionable insights. Submitted solutions from program participants in the online WWF Green Ideas crowdsourcing community should be unconventional, innovative, and commercially scalable. During this multi-phased community, members can comment and vote on ideas with the votes determining the finalists. The resulting short listed ideas will be invited back and submitters will be asked to add more details to their submissions. Finally, the expert panel will then select the winners who will receive USD $30,000 to invest one year working on their start-up idea. In addition, the winners will have the opportunity to work for a one-year term at Hub Zurich. The expert panel will also select two runners-up who, in turn, will also have access to start-up funds and working opportunities.

Holger Hoffmann-Riem, Department of Innovation & Networks of WWF Group Switzerland says, “This project illustrates a new and innovative model for the way a community can work together to find solutions for a better quality of life via sustainable consumption. Finding ways to minimize the use of our natural resources and eliminating toxic materials are essential to the planet’s long term viability.”

“We are very excited to see crowdsourcing being used towards sustainable environmental development,” said Shelley Kuipers, Founder and CEO of Chaordix. “Every single member of our team feels strongly that maintaining and sustaining the health of our natural resources is key to meeting the needs of future generations, and Chaordix® is pleased to be powering this initiative.”
