The list consists of the top 100 local business leaders and contains many familiar names in business, education, philanthropy and government. Receiving these accreditations shows MedPro Rx’s strong commitment and dedication to the healthcare industry. She has received the Distinguished Pharmacy Alumni Award from Virginia Commonwealth University, her alma mater, for her contributions to the profession of pharmacy and also serves on the UNC Pharmacy Foundation Board.
McFarlane was elected mayor of Raleigh in December 2011 after serving on the Raleigh City Council since 2007. As chair of the Council’s Comprehensive Planning Committee and a member of the Budget and Economic Development Committee, she is active in campaigning for responsible development that protects the quality of life and environment in Raleigh. McFarlane serves as a liaison to the following organizations: Wake County Elected Officials Transit Work Group, Raleigh Arts Commission and United Arts Council, Upper Neuse Rivers Basin Association, Environmental Advisory Board, Substance Abuse Advisory Council, Storm Water Management Utility Commission, Triangle J Council of Governments, Water Advisory Committee, Sister Cities, and Wake County Schools. “I have to thank in particular all the dedicated employees at MedPro Rx and those who volunteered to assist my candidacy as mayor for helping me earn a spot on the top 100 Triangle’s Most Influential Business Leaders list,” said McFarlane. “It is an honor to be listed among so many prominent business leaders in the Triangle, and I could not have achieved this without their strong support.”
