Stewart Engineering Names Don Brown Construction Services Department Manager

Brown to Manage Geotechnical Engineering, SI / CMT and CEI

Raleigh, NC, August 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Robert Macia, PE, LEED AP, president of Stewart Engineering (http://www.stewart-eng.com), has announced that Don Brown, PE LEEP AP, has been named the firm’s construction services department manager. In this position, Brown will manage Stewart’s three service lines within the firm’s Construction Services department – geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing (CMT) / special inspections (SI), and construction engineering and inspection (CEI). He will also lead the firm’s material testing laboratory, a 3,000 square-foot facility located at 2201 Brentwood Road. This new facility has 14 employees working on-site, including four professional engineers, who are responsible for testing soil, concrete, asphalt, spray-applied fireproofing material and a variety of other materials.

Most recently, Brown served as Stewart Engineering’s geotechnical services manager. He has applied his geotechnical engineering expertise to a wide variety of building, transportation and infrastructure projects. He most recently served as the geotechnical engineer for both the N.C. Department of Corrections Medical Center and Progress Energy’s new North Operations Center, in addition to being selected by NC State University for its Broughton Hall Addition and Renovations project. Prior to joining Stewart Engineering in 2008, he worked for a national geotechnical and testing provider in the Carolinas.
