Michael Gammon is highly skilled in transmission and generation operations. He is very familiar with Data Acquisition systems, Automatic Generation Control, Alarm processing, Remote Terminal Units, Energy Accounting, off-line power flow applications, and online power flow applications.

Michael has developed operating guides and criteria for many committees and working groups in NERC, MAIN, MISO and SPP. Some of those committees include the NERC Jointly Owned Unit operating guideline task force, the SPP Black Start task force, the SPP Consolidated Balancing Area task force, the SPP EMS Evaluation team, MISO Black Start working group, the SPP Operating Reliability Working Group, the SPP EMS Communications task force, and the Standards Drafting Team for the PER-005 standard.

“Mike’s strong background in transmission and generation operations greatly adds to CRSI’s growing NERC 693 consulting service team,” says Joseph Doetzl, Director Consulting Services. “We look forward to growing in the 693 arena.”

From 2003 to 2008 he managed the transmission system for Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L). Responsibilities included overseeing the transmission operation, managing facility outage analysis and preparation, Transmission System Operator and Power System Operator training, development of transmission operating guides, and preparation for NERC Readiness Evaluations and Audits. He developed the Transmission System Operator training program to meet NERC PER standards and trained System Operators in the use of on-line power flow applications and principles of system analysis.

Michael comments, “Having worked so closely with NERC Operations Compliance, I am eager to continue in this industry.” With a solid operations background and professional work with regional committees, Michael has obtained complete familiarity with the NERC Operating Manual and the subsequent NERC Reliability Standards. Michael was directly responsible for preparing for NERC Readiness Audits in 2004 and 2007 and preparation of an operations audit in 2003. Also as the Primary Compliance Contact for KCP&L, Michael was a key leader in preparing for a 693 NERC audit in 2009 and 2012.
