Santa Ana, CA, September 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Marla Noel, President of Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary, was honored with WomanSage’s Family Matters Community Outreach Award in the Business category on Wednesday, September 26. The 18-year industry veteran was honored for pioneering the funeral industry for women while remaining true to Fairhaven’s enduring commitment to serving families during their time of need.

“These women represent Orange County’s most influential community leaders, philanthropists and businesswomen, and it is truly an honor to be recognized among them,” said Noel. “My focus at Fairhaven has always been on serving from the heart and this honor is a tribute to the 90 courageous and compassionate employees who live this promise every day.”

As President of Fairhaven, Noel oversees one of Orange County’s most historic and scenic memorial parks. She has guided the 100-year-old organization into a new era of expansion, recently overseeing Fairhaven’s expansion into South Orange County with the opening of its brand new Mission Viejo facility.

Noel continues to make strides for women in the funeral industry through dedicated leadership within her organization, as well as through industry groups. She has been instrumental in nurturing the professional growth of many Fairhaven employees including vice president Tiffany Gallarzo and 16-year Fairhaven staffer Ruth Velez.

Noel is also a passionate community activist, who is active in the Irvine Rotary Club, is the treasurer of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana, is past president of the Foundation for the Boys and Girls Club and is the treasurer for the Orange County Alzheimer’s Association.

“Marla is breaking down barriers for women in the funeral industry and leading one of the most highly regarded funeral homes in the County, all while focusing on giving back to the community and fostering growth among female and male colleagues alike,” said Dr. Marilyn Ditty, President of WomanSage. “She is inspiration embodied and so deserving of this recognition.”

Noel was recognized along with nine other women for their significant contributions to bettering the quality of life for Orange County families.
