Among the apps that were submitted from around the world and evaluated by an international jury of tablet professionals, the XperGuide iPad App developed for Philips Healthcare by DDA won the healthcare category. Winners were announced at the TabletBiz conference & expo in New York City on November 27, 2012. This conference and The Tabby Awards are a production of TabTimes.
TabTimes is an online media distribution channel for information about tablet adoption and application deployments. The Tabby Awards is the first and only competition worldwide for the best iPad, Android, and Windws 8 tablet apps.
DDA developed the XperGuide iPad App for the Clinical Adoption Program within the Philips Healthcare Cardio/Vascular division. Interactive, immersive, and wholly engaging, the XperGuide App includes an introduction with an on-screen actress who presents the features of Philips’ equipment, a passive virtual medical simulation that guides users through equipment operation, and an active simulation where users are able to operate the equipment during the course of a basic procedure in a virtual operating room environment.
The app is an innovative hands-on introduction to the equipment that comprises a Philips’ interventional suite and it is a tool that enables internationally based physicians, radiologists, and medical technicians to improve their clinical skills and practice for proficiency.
“The award itself is very gratifying. We particularly appreciate the judge’s comments on the app,” said David Katz, DDA’s President. “What is perhaps most gratifying, however, is the good this app will do in providing better, risk-free training to clinicians and in minimizing medical mistakes, which are, unfortunately, an all-too-common problem.”
