6 Reasons Why Hand Held Capping Devices Prevail Against Capping by Hand

Erie, PA, January 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Automation Devices, Inc.’s (ADI) Swan-Matic Division offers customers in the bottling and packaging industry a broad range of capping devices and capping related products, including automatic and semi-automatic bottle capping. While bench-top cappers remain a solid choice for most, many customers can benefit from handheld cappers. Here are 5 reasons why:

Saves money. The number one factor for all companies is “What’s the bottom line?” Not only is a handheld capper a less expensive option compared to a bench-top capper, but there is savings on the other end - when production is increased and product output is greater.

Improves ergonomics. According to OSHA, “Ergonomics is the science of fitting workplace conditions and job demands to the capabilities of the working population. Effective and successful ‘fits’ assure high productivity, avoidance of illness and injury risks, and increased satisfaction among the workforce.”

A certain level of safety is met when handheld cappers are utilized correctly,” explains Bob Pacansky, Swan-Matic Engineer. Hand held cappers minimize strain and carpel tunnel syndrome and also can create a barrier if a hazardous material is being capped.”

Increases production. By replacing a job that was done 100% manually, a handheld capper minimizes user fatigue and creates a more rhythmic, faster, cycled process.

Provides options. There are several varieties of cappers and options available to suit each individual customer’s needs. “Handheld cappers are available in two main categories, air and electric,” explains Pacansky. “Typically air cappers would be used for wet, corrosive or explosive areas, while electric is convenient and readily available. A reverse option is also available on handheld cappers when de-capping is a necessary feature.

Ensures consistency. Handheld cappers ensure torque accuracy compared to when a bottle is capped by hand. This is an important factor for many industries including medical and pharmaceutical that need to maintain a certain level of precision is required.

Allows for capping “in the box.” Many times, an operator may find it convenient or most efficient to spin the caps on while the bottles are in the case or crate. Handhelds offer the flexibility to cap products “on location.”

Swan-Matic is a division of Automation Devices Inc. and provides capping solutions and accessories designed for small to medium production runs to a wide variety of industries. A variety of handheld and bench-top cappers make up this product line along with aluminum driver shells and renewable inserts.
