RONCO DEFENSOR™ Engineered Gloves for Specialized Cut Protection

New Line Offers Greater Levels of Safety and Comfort than Traditional Work Gloves

Toronto, Canada, March 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- As the PPE glove industry trends away from traditional leather and cotton work gloves, the new RONCO DEFENSOR™ glove line offers specialized, new-age cut-resistant hand protection.

These flexible, cool-performance gloves are manufactured from two classes of cut-protection fibres and deliver better comfort and dexterity than conventional industrial hand protection. Each style offers task-specific protection and durability, which translates into value for the end-user.

RONCO DEFENSOR 2 is a light-duty, cut level 2 glove for general purpose applications such as carpentry, cabling or freight handling. Manufactured from a synthetic aramid liner with a nitrile palm coating, this glove combines tough abrasion resistance with some heat resistance. By weight, aramid synthetic fibres are five to seven times stronger than steel. The most common aramid fibres are Kevlar® and Twaron®.

RONCO DEFENSOR 3 is a medium-duty, cut level 3 glove, ideal for handling tools, sheet metals, glass and other sharp materials.

RONCO DEFENSOR 5 is a heavy-duty, cut level 5 glove, ideal for work involving wet/dry grip of tools, glass or debris handling in construction or municipal recycling.

Both DEFENSOR 3 and 5 are manufactured with a HPPE (High Performance Polyethylene) liner with a water-based (non-carcinogenic) polyurethane coating. HPPE is, by weight, 10 to 12 times stronger than steel, so these gloves are highly abrasion-resistant. Their PU palm coating makes them lightweight and breathable to quickly absorb, disperse and dissipate body heat during extended glove wear. These gloves provide “real-hand” grip where tool or materials handling is required on the job.

Because DEFENSOR 5 is manufactured from a composite yarn that contains fibreglass, it offers the highest performance in cut resistance. All DEFENSOR gloves are CE EN388 mechanically rated for their resistance to abrasions, cuts, tears and punctures.

“The PPE glove market is levelling,” remarked Ron Pecchioli, President. “Mergers and acquisitions in the industry are steering RONCO into a select league of companies that offer consistent-quality product as well as expertise in the form of workplace safety assessments.”

Mr. Pecchioli continued, “Developing products such as DEFENSOR demonstrates RONCO’s commitment to innovation and our ability to serve a changing PPE landscape. This is what continues to position us as leaders in head, hand and body protection.”

Targeted end-users for DEFENSOR gloves include manufacturing, automotive or metal fabrication facilities that have specific and sometimes complex safety demands for their workers. DEFENSOR reduces the risk of hand injury while offering comfort and performance for trades-people who may have jeopardized their safety in the past by going “gloveless” because they felt it cumbersome to their job.

“The past two years have created incredible opportunities within glove development,” stated RONCO Product Manager, Matthew Shannon.

“New and improved technology has enabled RONCO to add several lines of light-weight, flexible gloves with superior barrier properties and longer lasting coatings. Users now have more choice in protection and fit, and that encourages them to wear the gloves and adhere to safety standards. It’s a win-win for both employers and employees.”

Note: RONCO DEFENSOR gloves are cut-resistant, not cut-proof and should not be used with moving or serrated blades.
