Rio Rancho, NM, March 24, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- The St. Felix Pantry in Rio Rancho announces it will pay tribute to the “Angels” who have supported the local non-profit who provides much more than food, clothing, and household items in times of need, on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Hotel Albuquerque.
In the 20-years the Pantry has been serving the community, this is the first major fundraising event. “In recent years, the need for our services continues to grow while the economy declines; job losses, increased food and fuel costs and recent cutbacks in welfare and healthcare benefits have created tremendous need,” said Manuel Casias, Vice President of St. Felix Pantry. “In 2012, the Pantry provided groceries for the equivalent of 2 million meals, and fed more than 52,000 households.
The pantry registers an average of 20 new households a day for food and clothing. “My husband and I work, but we’re low income,” Jennifer DeLillo told the Rio Rancho Observer as she placed produce into a bag, during a recent tour of the facility for Representative Ben Ray Lujan. “We can pay the rent, the bills, but this just takes the edge off.”
To support these efforts, the Pantry invites the community to join them at the Inaugural Gala fundraiser and volunteer recognition, Saturday April 27th at 6pm at the Hotel Albuquerque, for dinner and dancing. Individual tickets and tables are being sold, as well as corporate sponsorships. “Each year families and individuals in need turn to St. Felix Pantry for services” said Adrian Perez, President Heritage Hotels - Resort, and supporter of the St. Felix Pantry. “We are honored to be recognized by the Pantry and to have the opportunity to be a part of this vital work.”
