2006 Special Events Announced at ACE Adventure Center

An announcement of special events and adventure competitions for the 2006 at the East Coast's largest whitewater and adventure center resort.

Oak Hill, WV, December 16, 2005 --(PR.com)-- A full slate of events line the 2006 calendar at ACE Adventure Center in Oak Hill, WV were announced today. Events are scheduled from March through October and feature the return of four of the Center’s most popular events.

The Big Canyon Off-Road Triathlon-Nissan Xterra USA Championship Series at ACE returns on June 4th for its 6th year of competition. Featuring a unique river swim segment, this event draws competitors from 13 states and is a favorite on the Nissan Xterra circuit. A celebration of summer and family friendly activities highlight ACE’s Summer Splash Beach Week held for the 3rd year, August 6-13th. Annual fall competitions kickoff on August 27th with the New River Bike Fest and wrap up with the October 28th running of ACE’s New River Gorge-ous Trail Run and Walk.

New events for 2006 include the hosting of a segment of the New River Birding and Nature Festival exploring the diverse ecosystems and birding habitat of the Adventure Center poised on the rim of the New River Gorge. April 22-23rd will feature a chance to volunteer in the Earth Day Celebration with trail maintenance and river cleanup activities. A mixture of celebration and theme weeks will also be introduced in 2006. A West Virginia Day celebration on June 20th will feature rafting and activity specials. Nature Discovery Week kicks off on July 1st and runs through the 4th with the Stars and Stripes Celebration offering events for the entire family on the 4th. Experience the New River on August 5th with a unique format---the Moonlight Madness Rapid Run. ACE’s West Virginia Oktoberfest, October 20-22, features a celebration of food and drink for everyone.

ACE Director of Activities, Meghan Watterworth is excited about the upcoming year. “We’ve tried to create events around the many adventures we offer at the Adventure Center while exploring the natural beauty we have on premises. We offer events full of challenge for those wanting intense competition and easy to accomplish for the first-timer. The new themed events are designed to engage the entire family with fun and exploration.”
