Bella Donna Films’ Short will Compete at Film Festival Rotterdam’s Tiger Awards
Rotterdam, Netherlands, December 24, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Bella Donna Films short film “Someter” will compete in The Tiger Awards Competition for Short Film as part of the program AS LONG AS IT TAKES, from January 26 to January 30, 2006. “Someter” was directed by Iris Almaraz, the director and producer of four films in 2005, including “La Puta,” a four-time award winning short film. Ms. Almaraz is a co-founder of Bella Donna Films along with Rina Fernandez and Corina Mora, who both produce and act in their films. With a little over a year in the business, their production company’s films have shown in just under a hundred festivals around the globe during this past year alone. They are currently shooting a feature documentary “A Very Merry Chicano Christmas” and are in preproduction on the feature film “Latina Samurai.”

Bella Donna Films - Ingenious, dedicated, and highly motivated are only a few words that describe the three ambitious guerrilla film makers: Iris Almaraz, Rina Fernandez and Corina Mora. Founding Bella Donna Films almost two years ago, these women are telling stories with unique twists and real characters – stories that the audience can relate to from an unparalleled point of view. Concerned with the sincerity of their stories and the quality of their productions, these filmmakers are putting more of a women’s touch into their films to create a refreshing and unique style that is easy to appreciate. For the ignored segment of movie-going individuals who are interested in seeing films about characters and their situations, Bella Donna films may pique your interest!

These women, with little or no funding, are brought together by the same ideas and dreams, and diligently work toward the same goals. Instead of concerning themselves on bringing the next project off the ground, these women utilize their energy and talents to make the project happen. A production company which produces films entirely in-house is almost unheard of in the film industry, yet this is precisely what Bella Donna does; their work ranges from the creativity in developing a story, to building the equipment, to the final editing after a shoot.

Already catching the attention of numerous film festivals worldwide, Bella Donna’s breadth and quality often results in the showing of more than one of their seven short films in a single festival. The 30 minute short version of “La Puta” has won awards at film festivals worldwide, and Bella Donna Films is currently seeking funding to produce the feature. In the meantime, the company is shooting the full length documentary “A Very Merry Chicano Christmas”, and in pre-production for two low-budget features entitled “The Latina Samurai” and “Pancake Planet”. Without a doubt, Bella Donna Films is a quickly rising production company pushing forward the quality and creativity in filmmaking with vigor and perseverance.
