Laboratory Testing Inc. Employee Earns MIL-STD-2132 Examiner in Ultrasonic Testing

LTI NDT employee, Phil Trach, has completed examinations to become certified as an examiner for MIL-STD-2132 contact ultrasonic testing. Phil has been with LTI since 2005 and currently holds the position of NDT Technical Coordinator.

Hatfield, PA, August 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Phil Trach, NDT Technical Coordinator at Laboratory Testing Inc., has been approved as a nondestructive testing (NDT) MIL-STD-2132 Examiner in contact ultrasonic testing. He also holds MIL-STD-2132 Examiner certification in immersion ultrasonic testing, which he earned in 2009. Each certification was awarded after successful completion of an extensive assessment process on the specific method of ultrasonic testing, including written and operational examinations on general theory, specifications and standards, ultrasonic testing (UT) methods and UT testing equipment. The Naval Sea Systems Command in Pittsburgh, PA administered the examinations.

Examiner certification is a requirement for laboratories performing ultrasonic testing services according to MIL-STD-2132 for military suppliers involved with components for propulsion systems. The Nondestructive Testing Department at Laboratory Testing Inc. also performs X-ray inspection, magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant testing, hydrostatic pressure testing and visual examination.

Trach joined Laboratory Testing Inc. in 2005 as NDT Technical Coordinator, a position responsible for the development and integration of new technology to maximize the capabilities, reliability and efficiencies of the lab’s NDT services. Phil is a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Before joining LTI, Phil was employed by Specialty Ring Products and Custom Alloy with responsibilities in engineering, testing and quality assurance.
