Chimera 25th Anniversary Digital Video Student Film Contest Winners Announced

Studentfilmmakers.com has announced the winners of the Chimera 25th Anniversary Digital Video Student Film Contest. First place winner is LOST OUR SENSES by Joe Ornelas. Second place winner is LAST RITES by Robert Muraskin. Third place winner is ALL BUT ONE by Kevin Duggin.

New York, NY, January 01, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Studentfilmmakers.com has announced the winners of the Chimera 25th Anniversary Digital Video Student Film Contest. First place winner is LOST OUR SENSES by Joe Ornelas. Second place winner is LAST RITES by Robert Muraskin. Third place winner is ALL BUT ONE by Kevin Duggin.

Honorable mention award winners include CASKET CLIMBER INSECT GOD by Brian Lonano, STRANGER by Montana Casey, WHAT TIME IS IT? by Pete Herron, FUTILITY by Mathew Rudenberg, and MY GIRLFRIEND'S ON DRUGS by Pearl Wible.

The top three winners and honorable mention award winners were selected by a panel of judges that consisted of professionals working in the entertainment industry and members of The American Society of Cinematographers.

The purpose of the student contest was to, along with Studentfilmmakers.com, support and encourage student filmmakers while providing a way to give exposure to the students' works. The contest was sponsored by Chimera Lighting in celebration of Chimera's twenty-fifth anniversary.

Kim E. Welch, Founder/Director of Studentfilmmakers.com, said of the contest's mission: "We at Studentfilmmakers.com love doing contests and enjoy helping students and aspiring filmmakers of all ages. These contests really bring out the best in filmmakers and help to sharpen their storytelling skills. I think we have accomplished our goal with this contest."

Regarding the entries, Mr. Welch said, "We had more entries on this contest than on any of the other contests so far. The quality of the submissions we received was amazing. We had some that looked so professional we checked to make sure they were from students."
