Erin Smith of MMI Public Relations Wins 2013 Stevie Award for Women in Business
MMI Senior Account Executive Wins Bronze Award for Woman of the Year in 10th Annual Awards Competition.
Raleigh, NC, December 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Alfred Leach, president of MMI Public Relations, a public relations firm based in North Carolina’s Research Triangle region, has announced that Senior Account Executive Erin Smith received a Bronze Award in the Woman of the Year – Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations category from the 10th Annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. Smith, who has been with the firm since 2010, won the award based on her outstanding job performance, work ethic and passion for her industry.
As senior account executive at MMI, Smith sets account strategy and oversees long-term planning for her clients. She supervises account teams and manages budget and client relationships. Experienced in working with clients in a variety of industries, including fashion, real estate, health care, pharmaceutical, medical device and food service, Erin specializes in coordinating and managing press conferences and special events for MMI. She has handled invitations and secured placement of leading government officials, including the governor of North Carolina and international figures at a state commerce event in China, as well as top business officials for a multitude of events.
Smith joined MMI in 2010 after having served as an account executive at a PR agency in Boston, where she helped launch a national women’s fashion brand and was part of a team that organized Hub On Wheels, Boston’s first citywide bike ride festival, which had several thousand attendees. Smith has helped clients gain coverage in various media outlets, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Better Homes and Gardens, Parenting and other national trade publications. Away from work, Smith actively supports NC State University, and enjoys family time with her husband and two children.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business, hailed as the world’s premier business awards, honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees and the companies they run. Gold, silver and bronze Stevie Award winners were announced during a gala event at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on Nov. 8. Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries were in attendance. More than 1,200 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 90 categories, including executive of the year, entrepreneur of the year, women helping women, and communications campaign of the year. Finalists were chosen by more than 140 business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging.
This win marks the second consecutive year MMI has claimed a Bronze Stevie Award. Senior Account Manager Jennifer Fair received the honor in 2012 in the Female Employee of the Year – Advertising, Marketing, & Public Relations category. Fair has been with the firm since 2007.
