Bellaire, MI, September 26, 2007 --(PR.com
)-- After spending ten years in the high-flying Wall Street lifestyle, Andy LaPointe changed careers from selling high finance products to selling products high in antioxidants. He now sells tart cherry juice concentrate and tart cherry capsules worldwide.
So what was the motivation to quit the high finance lifestyle and start his own antioxidant business? “I traveled 5-6 days per week for almost 8 years and having a young family it was difficult. In addition, September 11, 2001 was also a factor in my decision to stop traveling and start my own business.”, said Mr. LaPointe
The company was started in 2002, only a few months after September 11. The name of the company is Traverse Bay Farms / Fruit Advantage. For the first three years, his wife Jennifer and a several employees ran the day-to-operations of the business. However, it wasn’t until 2005 when Mr. LaPointe quit his traveling job to work full-time on the business.
The reason Mr. LaPointe started the company was due to his personal experience. “During my finance career, I logged over 75,000 airline miles per year and I experienced lower back pain that was due to sitting in airline seats, rental cars and sleeping in hotel beds. The pain soon became unbearable and I needed a solution… and being from Northern Michigan, I always heard about the natural health benefits of the tart cherry…and within a few weeks of drinking tart cherry juice my lower back pain was gone.” said Mr. LaPointe.
After that experience, Mr. LaPointe was sold on the tart cherry and all it could do. The first product the company sold was tart cherry juice concentrate. The product line has now expanded to include a complete line of proprietary, antioxidant-rich, fruit-based dietary supplements under the Fruit Advantage brand, dried cherries, gourmet fruit salsas and juice sweetened preserves.
Traverse Bay Farms/ Fruit Advantage has grown to include distribution in 48 States and 4 countries. In addition, the company is also the creator of the World’s first tart cherry, glucosamine and chondrointin dietary supplement. The name of this patent-pending formula is called Cherry Prime and is used by professional athletes, celebrities, weekend warriors and anyone interested in an active lifestyle.
During his finance career as a separate account and mutual fund wholesaler, Mr. LaPointe closed over $375,000,000 in assets. In fact, in 2001, at age 31 Mr. LaPointe earned the title Regional Vice President with a subsidiary of a Fortune 100 company responsible for managing investment sales for 7 Midwestern States.
