McKim & Creed Announces New Board Members

Raleigh, NC, February 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- McKim & Creed, Inc., a Raleigh, North Carolina-based engineering, surveying and planning firm with offices throughout the South, has announced the appointment of two new members of its board of directors.

McKim & Creed Chairman and CEO Michael W. Creed, Ph.D., PE, welcomed Ken Garcia and James (Chip) Mahan to the board at the company’s recent shareholders meeting.

Garcia, a graduate of Cornell University and The University of Texas School of Law, has held leadership positions in a number of startup companies. He served as chief financial officer and general counsel of Ecovation, Inc., a $75-million water treatment firm, and is the CEO and founder of New Prospect Holdings, LLC, a company that develops new businesses and technologies. Garcia, who lives in Charlotte, also serves on the Athletic Alumni Advisory Committee to the Cornell University board of trustees.

Mahan began his banking career with Wachovia Bank & Trust after receiving a B.S. in finance from Washington and Lee University. He has served as chairman and CEO of Citizens Union National Bank & Trust, and founded Security First Network Bank, the world’s first Internet bank, and its technology offshoot, S1 Corporation. In 2007 he established Wilmington, North Carolina-based Live Oak Bank, which has grown to become one of the largest originators of small business loans with one of the strongest portfolios in the country.

Serving with Garcia, Mahan and Creed on McKim & Creed’s board of directors are Fred Day, retired president and CEO of Progress Energy Carolinas; Diane Creel, former chairman, CEO and president of Ecovation and Earth Tech; Herb McKim, Jr., PE, PLS, chief operations officer at McKim & Creed.
