New Desang Kitbags Make Living with Diabetes Easier

At last, a properly designed carry case in which diabetics can keep their equipment.

Brighton, United Kingdom, January 14, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Desang Ltd, a new company that designs and sells kitbags for people with diabetes, is proving a real hit with those who have the condition – estimated at 2 million people in the UK today.

The kitbags keep everything in one place, making living with the condition just that little bit easier. And it’s nice-looking too, made of leather, resembling a Filofax.

Both the ‘Classic’ and the ‘Slim‘ kitbags are made of robust leather and fit the best-selling blood test meters in the UK along with lancets, calibration strips or liquids and spare sensors, plus spare needles and cartridges for insulin pens. Syringes and insulin bottles also fit in.

The Slim (£29.99) is ideal if the diabetic only needs to take one type of insulin with them.

The Classic (£39.99) has an extra holder for a second insulin injection pen. There's also an additional zipped pocket in the Classic which can be used to store a sugar source such as a tube of sweets for example.

Some people are buying a kitbag to organise themselves. Others, to organise a partner or a child and some are buying both models. Many find them very useful for holidays or business travel. Having a professional looking bag not only makes going through customs less of a hassle, but it also fits in with a working lifestyle.

"Like many people, I had a busy life. Like some of them, I had diabetes too, which meant I had to be extra organised. I didn't let having diabetes stand in my way, but as I had to carry around various bits and bobs to control it, I wanted something practical but professional to house it all in. I played around with ideas and researched the size of the market and thought, 'I can't be the only one who could do with this kind of specialised carry case'. It was hardly an overnight insight -- more a gradual realisation that there had to be a role in many diabetic's lives for a kitbag such as the one I ended up designing. Judging by the feedback I've had, I was right," says Sue Marshall, founder of Desang Ltd.

"I travel a lot on business on planes, trains and automobiles; this makes carrying all the kit a hassle. Twice last month I was short of needles and once ran out of insulin while at an airport. Your Classic kitbag is perfect for my work and lifestyle," says Chris Oggelsby, a satisfied customer.

“My daughter received her Classic case and is delighted with it. She has been diabetic since aged 7 (she is nearly 12) and we have made do with a selection of wash bags over the years, none of which really fitted the bill. She has two pens and a small machine so it is perfect. Well done for your very clever design. Many thanks,” says Sarah Mills, another satisfied customer.

MORE INFORMATION ON DESANG KITBAGS

The company was set up in 2004 by Sue Marshall, who has had insulin dependent diabetes for 33 years. She single-handedly designed the kitbag and sourced the manufacturer and the funding. Since the website was launched, the kitbags now sell worldwide in increasing quantities and word of mouth is spreading.

Desang kitbags come in two models. The Classic model contains everything required to monitor and administer type 1 diabetes, or type 2 diabetes treated by insulin. The Slim model is ideal for those who only use one insulin during the day.
