SCLG Reveals New Vision at the 5th Middle East Purchasing Forum 2007

Founding president of the Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG), Mr Shashi Shekhar, will address the Forum in his key note presentation and share his viewpoints on how purchasing professionals in the region must align with global trends in supply chain management.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 06, 2007 --(PR.com)-- In the midst of major transformations, companies are beginning to recognise the pivotal role procurement plays in controlling costs and driving operational efficiency. At the same time, globalisation is forcing procurement to adopt a more global strategy, further complicating the purchasing environment. IIR’s Purchasing Forum 2007 will be addressing these key challenges and reviewing winning purchasing strategies and tools. The Forum is to be held on 18th – 22nd November at the Movenpick Hotel, Dubai

Cliff Cuttelle, a founding member and senior advisor of SCLG.says, “The Purchasing Forum 2007, now in its 5th consecutive year, concentrates on the core procurement aspect of the supply chain, which is extremely integral to this region. SGLC has always extended its support to the Forum, which works on the very platform SCLG promotes.”

The Supply Chain & Logistics Group (SCLG), the country’s first independent supply chain and logistics organisation, shall focus on the innovative trends the industry adapts to as the region’s ambitious economic plans are implemented. “Its team of International Advisors – from 4 continents – each with his expertise in the supply chain and logistics specific sector, support SCLG in developing sustainable SCM specific global strategies, extend their support in liaising with local associations, government bodies and visiting delegations to the region. The focus always is to work under the SCLG banner locally, but connect globally, to benefit the UAE and it’s members,” says Cliff Cuttelle.

With a Board of International Advisors from across the continents, they have opened the doors of international best practice to the region’s unique requirements. The advisors work actively with industry professionals to add value within the supply chain, which initiates at the pivotal purchasing stage.

Mr Cuttelle has been instrumental in aligning SCLG’s business plan with the ‘Dubai Strategic Plan 2015’. As a founding member of the exclusive team, Mr Cuttelle has contributed to the group actively from its inception.

Dr Dermot Carey, workshop leader at the Purchasing Forum 2007, advocates that “efficient sourcing and working with supplier resources can provide the organisation with an enormous competitive advantage”. His procurement approach has been implemented in major organisations resulting in multi-million dollar savings and benefits.

“The forum represents a sound compatible base of the five progressive industry sectors; Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare and FMCG, which share their cumulative regional strength, encompassing the global perspective”, says Raza Chevel, Conference Manager, IIR Middle East, organisers of the 5th Middle East Purchasing Forum 2007.

“This year’s programme brings new speakers, a close regional perspective and implemental solutions in the form of workshops, which lead to and follow the conference”, Mr Chevel said.

Attending the forum will ensure a broad spectrum perspective of current trends on leading companies to streamline costs and optimise efficiency.
