HPE Extrusion Solutions Manufactures Customized Polypropylene Plastic Extrusions

Suburban Philadelphia manufacturer offers custom extruded polypropylene plastic parts, products and profiles for industrial applications.

Bally, PA, August 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- HPE Extrusion Solutions, specialists in complex plastic extrusions, is offering extruded customized profiles, parts and products from various grades of polypropylene for industrial, commercial and institutional applications.

Polypropylene (PP), also known as polypropene, is a highly versatile thermoplastic polymer found in virtually all plastics end-use markets. Demand for polypropylene--- the second most important plastic in terms of revenue-- was estimated to have grown at the rate of 4.4% per year between 2004 and 2012.

Extrusion is the single most popular process for forming polypropylene, accounting for about 45% of consumption in the United States. Although the vast majority of polypropylene extrusions are for fiber, filament products and film, HPE Extrusion Solutions specializes in the manufacture of extruded polypropylene profiles, parts and products. Typical reasons for choosing polypropylene are: cost, chemical resistance, electrical insulating properties, translucence and fatigue resistance (which makes is ideal for “live hinge” applications).

Although polypropylene is translucent in its natural state, a wide variety of colors, additives and combinations is available. Many physical finishing techniques can also be used on polypropylene, such as machining. Surface treatments can be applied to polypropylene parts in order to promote adhesion of printing ink and paints.

Because of its diverse properties, polypropylene lends itself well to a large number of end-use applications. For example, polypropylene plastic items used for medical or laboratory applications are able to withstand the heat in an autoclave. Its heat resistance also enables it to be used in the manufacturing of consumer products, such as food containers subject to dishwasher heat. Rugged, translucent, reusable plastic containers made in a wide variety of shapes and sizes are often made of polypropylene. Other polypropylene end-use applications include disposable containers for liquid or powder, plastic pails, car batteries, wastebaskets, pharmacy prescription bottles, cooler containers, dishes and pitchers.

HPE's machines' single screw units range from 3/4" to 2 1/2" which permits extrusions of a wide range of sizes and shapes, including profiles ranging in size from 1/16" to 5" profile with a virtually unlimited length.

Polypropylene is just one of the many common and advanced thermoplastics resins that HPE is capable of extruding. Others include flexible and rigid PVC and polypropylene, and innovative engineering resins, such as ABS/PVC alloys and difficult-to-run elastomers, such as Santoprene, nylon and glass-filled ABS.
