National Fire Training Provider Helps UK Workplaces Take Control of Safety and Risk

With recent government statistics stating that over 50% of fire deaths are caused by smoker’s material or cigarette lighters, the UK’s leading training firm, Workplace Fire and Safety Training Ltd. (WFST), has taken matters into their own hands.

Coventry, United Kingdom, November 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Coventry-based company is also the only training provider in the UK to deliver fire safety programs in accordance with the DSAT (Defence System Approach to Training) model.

According to the Department for Communities and Local Government, 22,500 fires were recorded at non-residential buildings between 2012 and 2013, with 65% of fatalities occurring in premises that were not fitted with smoke alarms.

Whilst these statistics have improved, with 18% less fires compared to the same period in 2011-12, WFST is urging organisations to take fire safety seriously by completing regular risk assessments.

Managing Director Neil Flynn, who has over 20 years’ experience working in the Fire & Rescue Services within the Local Authority and the military, commented: “Carrying out regular and comprehensive fire risk assessments is an important part of maintaining safety at any commercial or industrial premises. Assessors work to identify risk and take the necessary steps to reduce or even remove the hazards completely. By maintaining a written record of assessment, every building owner, landlord or business occupier can fulfil their legal duty and protect staff, visitors and clients.”

By law, a business that employs five or more people must maintain a written risk assessment and take steps to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. By identifying hazards, those at risk, ignition sources, evacuation routes, training needs and fire safety equipment requirements every organisation can effectively prevent fire and enhance protection in the event of an emergency.

“You don’t have to complete the fire risk assessment process alone, our experienced and qualified team of fire risk assessors can complete comprehensive assessments on your behalf for just £290. Our service ensures hazards are spotted and controlled so the risk of fire is reduced, whilst further training can be sought so you can rest assured that you and your staff are fully prepared and protected,” concluded Neil.
