About Dominique Hussey

Dominique Hussey is the Bennett Jones LLP Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group leader with a broad range of IP, regulatory and branding experience, including extensive experience litigating patents under the Patented Medicines (NOC) Regulations. Her practice involves trademark prosecution, brand portfolio management, and all aspects of IP litigation. In addition to counseling on a range of trademark, patent and copyright issues, Dominique advises on advertising, marketing, packaging, labeling, and regulatory matters, most often pertaining to food, drugs, cosmetics, and telecommunications technology. She is depended on to structure and negotiate complex strategic settlements and business arrangements, with an eye to positive business and litigation outcomes. She also offers her experience to assist clients in navigating corporate acquisition, re-organization and joint ventures, in a variety of regulated and retail industries. She has advised clients extensively on the content, scope, outcome and likely legislative impact of CETA negotiations. Dominique previously practiced at a major law firm in New York, where she provided litigation and counseling services to pharmaceutical and consumer products companies in the areas of patents, trade secrets and false advertising, with a particular focus on Hatch-Waxman Act patent litigation.

Event Synopsis:

The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) is a free trade agreement between Canada and the European Union. If approved, the agreement will become effective in 2016. Almost all tariffs between the two parties will be eliminated.

CETA covers many fields. One bulletin addresses provisions relating to patent law and data protection, addressing issues such as patent term restoration for pharmaceutical products other than those already approved and equivalent and effective rights of appeal for judicial decisions under the Patented Medicines Regulations among others.

In a two hour, live webcast, a panel of experts and professionals assembled by The Knowledge Group will provide the audience with an overview and discussion Patent Law in Light of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between Canada and the EU.
