Gingerbread Contest Has $10,000 Top Prize

Create a gingerbread house and win a variety of prizes including a package at the Hyatt Regency Chicago valued at $10,000, Chicago Bears tickets and much more all while supporting Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice.

Geneva, IL, November 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Alain & Esther Roby are proud to present the 2nd Annual Gingerbread House Competition to benefit Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice. The event will be held in conjunction with the Geneva Christmas House Walk & Tour on Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Geneva.

Top prize for the contest is a Hyatt package valued at $10,000. The package includes an evening for 8 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in the world famous Monarch Suite with three deluxe rooms on the same floor. Enjoy dinner prepared by the Hyatt Chef of the Year and custom desserts prepared by Pastry Art & Design Hall of Fame member and Geneva resident Alain Roby accompanied by a special wine selection chosen by Hyatt’s master sommelier. The package also includes a full breakfast the next day. Second place is valued at $2,000 with the winner receiving a gift basket prepared by Midwest Imports complete with imported ingredients from around the world and 4 tickets to the Chicago Bears vs. the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, December 30th in the Cadillac Club at Soldier Field, including parking. Third place is valued at $400 and large hand finished serving bowl from Woodbury’s of Vermont as well as an assortment of Jonathan’s wild cherry hand made utensils as used by Rachael Ray and Oprah and a $50 gift certificate provided by Past Basket. The People’s Choice winner will receive a package to the Herrington Inn & Spa provided by the Shodeen Family.

Houses may be dropped off at St. Mark’s Friday, December 7 after 10:00 a.m. Entry fee is $10 and those interested must register by Monday, December 3. The maximum base size is 12 x 17 inches with everything visible being edible. The awards ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 8. All houses not picked up by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday will be donated to families being served by FVVH.

Those wishing to view the houses may walk through St. Marks on Friday or Saturday for $5 per adult or $10 per family. All proceeds from the event will benefit FVVH’s children bereavement programs.
