Detectamet’s Elephant Pen – Designed to be Seen and Rejected by Metal and X-Ray Systems

York, United Kingdom, May 07, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Detectamet’s new detectable Elephant Pens have been developed in co-operation with the Design and Prototyping Centre of the University of Sheffield to combine the best in ergonomic handling, the most efficient modern manufacturing methods and visibility to standard food industry inspection equipment.

“These new pens are the result of a huge leap forward in metal and x-ray detectable pen design,” says Sean Smith the CEO at Detectamet. “In physical trials we tested the bodies and clip for strength and resilience and these are the strongest pens I have come across, quite amazing.”

They have been designed to combine the best handling, the most efficient modern manufacturing methods and can be fully ‘seen and rejected’ by either metal detection and X-ray inspection systems in typical use in the food industry. Angela Musson-Smith Detectamet’s Managing Director pointed out, “The materials conform to the standard EC and US regulations on plastic materials intended to come into contact with food and we have selected the inks to conform to ISO12757-2.”

Detectamet’s patented polymer is efficiently moulded in the UK to form a very resilient and easy to handle body shape. The triangular section and the textured finish make it possible to handle in challenging wet, greasy and powdery work places.

The choice of 9 colours for the body enables HACCP separation systems to be applied and buyers can choose from Retractable or One Piece pens. Further choices for these pens means they can be delivered, with a completely smooth casing, with a casing incorporating only a ring shaped lanyard attachment point, and a third choice that includes an attachment point with a pocket clip. The retractable pens can be selected with either matching or contrasting colour of end cap to signify ink colour.

The ink choice of 4 types means that the pens can be used in chillers or freezers, or can be specified to work in powdery areas such as bakeries. The pressurised ink can for example write in wet areas. A number of ink colours can be specified. These resilient long lasting pens are designed to be quickly and easily refilled.
