Walsall, United Kingdom, May 10, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Walsall-based container firm Lion Containers Ltd supply shipping containers for general storage and also for bespoke conversion projects. They have worked with a wide variety of organisations such as the Glasgow Commonwealth Games committee, music festivals, television broadcasters and education establishments.

The firm run a successful apprentice scheme, and currently have five 17-20 year olds working within the sales, business development and administration departments. This has proven excellent for the business, and all apprentices are doing extremely well, 3 previous apprentices are now on long-term contracts and assist with the current apprentices. The firm work very closely with Walsall College and Solihull College to provide this scheme, and have previously stated that “We hope that by doing it we are helping the young people of the Midlands as well as the local economy.”

One of the firm’s apprentices, Mohammed Ahmed, was chosen by his colleagues to be entered into the Express & Star’s Business Awards “Apprentice of The Year” category. The judges were looking for an outstanding apprentice, who has made an outstanding contribution to their employer’s business, possibly by assisting the delivery of a key project or supporting growth and/or sustainability. They were looking to honour an apprentice whose attitude and performance makes them a shining example to others. They also expected evidence of where the candidate clearly added value to the business and where they went above and beyond the performance expected. Lion Containers Ltd strongly believed that Mohammed fit this description perfectly, and the judges agreed as he is one of the 3 category finalists.

The awards will be held at Wolverhampton Racecourse on Thursday, 11th June 2015. As well as finalists, the event will also be attended by hundreds of business leaders to celebrate a year of success in a variety of areas of commerce.
