Bike Friendly University to Add More Brasco Bike Shelters to Campus

Stony Brook, NY, May 30, 2015 --(PR.com)-- In celebration of Bike Month, Brasco International recognizes Stony Brook University in New York for its ongoing bike-friendly improvements. Stony Brook just ordered 8 additional bike shelters to add to the 15 other recently installed shelters. As a bike friendly campus, Stony Brook offers exceptional cycling accommodations including bike sharing, bike repair hubs, bike paths and covered bike parking.

“As our resident student population grew, so did the number of resident students who ride bikes around campus. We also found that the percentage of residents that depend on bicycles for transportation on our 1100 acre was growing as well,” said John Vatalaro, Assistant Director of Residential Financial Services.

Stony Brook selected Brasco’s Axle Series shelter for its robust 6” square columns, 9’ wide canopy roof, and fully pre-assembled roofs. The Brasco shelters are structurally engineered to meet maximum snow and wind loads - a significant concern for this NY based campus. To top it off, Stony Brook selected a custom red powder coat to brand the shelters and make them easily recognizable throughout campus. “The bike shelters have been well received by students and bike shelters are now included in plans for new buildings,” said Vatalaro.

Brasco is an environmentally responsible manufacturer that produces zero air, water, or ground waste, uses recycled aluminum and HDPE, and powder coats with a zero VOC (volatile organic compound) finish. The Stony Brook bike shelters are available for purchase and can be seen alongside other models at www.brasco.com.
