)-- The Financial Information Services Association (FISD) of the SIIA today announced that Sara Banerjee, Director, Data Strategy Execution, SIX Financial Information Ltd in Zurich, Switzerland, is the recipient of the sixth Market Data Lifetime Achievement Award. She is the first woman to receive the award. The honor recognizes leaders who have advanced the financial information industry over the past 25 years. Banerjee was honored at the Lifetime Achievement Awards Dinner during the biennial World Financial Information Conference (WFIC) in New Orleans on October 5, 2015.
“Sara’s contributions to the market data industry and to FISD are innumerable,” said Tom Davin, Managing Director of FISD. “In her roles at Telekurs and now SIX Financial, she is globally recognized as a key voice on behalf of market data distributors. She has provided leadership to FISD over the years as Chair of both the FISD Executive Committee and WFIC Program Planning Committee, and had been a key contributor to the development of global standards through her work with ISO. FISD and its members are very pleased to recognize Sara as the winner of our 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Banerjee joined SIX Telekurs USA in Stamford, CT in 1989, and has held various positions within the company. In her current position, she is responsible for global data acquisition, management of supplier portfolio, and relationship. In this role, she manages best practices for acquisition and implementation of market and reference data from dozens of global exchanges and third party contributors.
Banerjee is actively involved in various industry initiatives, and works with groups such as the X9D (ANSI Standards) committee and the ISO standards working groups (WG 1, WG 2, WG 6, and WG 14). She also serves as co-chair of the vendor committee for the International Securities Association for Institutional Trade (ISITC). She is active in various divisions of the Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) and Financial Information Forum (FIF).
In addition to her other industry activities, Sara has served in a number of leadership roles with FISD. She has served on several FISD committees since joining the group in 1994, and was elected the chair of the Executive Committee in 2001, 2002, and 2006, and vice-chair in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2011. She currently serves on the Executive Committee, is the co-chair of the Data Vendor Constituency Group, and has been the co-chair of the biennial World Financial Information Conference for several years.
The Financial Information Services Association (FISD) of SIIA provides a neutral business forum for exchanges, market data vendors, specialist data providers, brokerage firms, investment managers and banks to address and resolve business and technical issues related to the distribution, management, administration and use of market data.
