Fannin Innovation Studio’s Atul Varadhachary Appointed to Jones Health Care Advisory Board

Diverse group of industry leaders to enhance Rice University’s Health Care Initiative.

Houston, TX, October 24, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Atul Varadhachary, M.D., Ph.D. has been appointed to the Jones Health Care Advisory Board at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business (JGSB). An early-stage life science commercialization expert and business development strategist, Varadhachary will provide guidance on curricular requirements and advise senior leadership on new management programs for healthcare professionals.

JGSB established the board – comprised of executive leadership representing Houston’s top healthcare systems, business advisors, health care providers and medical innovators - to enhance the visibility and reputation of its health care education initiatives. Selected to serve a one-year term, the ten-member board will meet twice to define and refine goals of the Health Care Initiative.

Varadhachary, a physician with a research doctorate from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a veteran of two major biotechnology development companies, is managing partner of Fannin Innovation Studio, an early-stage life sciences development group focused on commercializing innovation developed in the Texas Medical Center.

“The health care landscape is changing at a rapid pace and Dr. Varadhachary’s unique insight as a physician entrepreneur will be a great asset as we work to strengthen health care education pathways in a variety of competencies including life science entrepreneurship,” said Dr Prashant Kale, Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Head of Health Care Initiative.

Active in Houston’s life sciences community, Varadhachary also serves on the Greater Houston Partnership’s Health Care Advisory Committee, which aggressively advocates for local, state and federal policies that address the region’s health care challenges.

His other professional affiliations include the Board of the Center for Public Policy Priorities, the Life Sciences Advisory Committee of the Houston Technology Center, the BioHouston Advisory Board, the University of Houston Biotechnology Industrial Advisory Committee, and he serves on the Board and as President of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston.
