The new access road and canoe launch at Menokin has been made possible thanks to a $99,000 grant from the National Park Service – Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network. The new road to Cat Point Creek will feature parking and a turnaround at the Menokin launch site and an improved soft landing for canoes and kayaks into the creek. The grant will also allow Menokin an enhanced website and interpretive signage for the trail and will help to raise visibility for this important natural resource.

With this grant from the National Park Service and community supporters, including Wood Preservers, the Beirne Carter Foundation, Chesapeake Conservancy, Patrick F. Noonan and the National Trust for Historic Places, and others, this kayak and canoe launch will offer a new and exciting recreational opportunity for the community. To make a donation and help support this new access road and canoe launch, please contact Christina Markish at the Menokin Foundation: cmarkish@menokin.org or (804) 333-1776.
