iGlobal Educational Services today announced an extended deadline, which is January 31, 2016 for the Dr. Alicia Holland Scholarship Program. The program awards annual scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 to high school seniors who excel academically and are dedicated to serving others. Many previous scholarship recipients have overcome serious challenges in order to pursue their dreams.

Phoenix, AZ, December 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- iGlobal Educational Services today announced an extended deadline, which is January 31, 2016 for the Dr. Alicia Holland Scholarship Program. The program awards annual scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 to high school seniors who excel academically and are dedicated to serving others. Many previous scholarship recipients have overcome serious challenges in order to pursue their dreams.

Scholarship funds may be used for tuition at an accredited college or university or for educational expenses such as on-campus housing, textbooks and computers. Through iGlobal Educational Services, Dr. Holland strives to create a powerful network of community leaders that will provide a lasting legacy for generations. Scholarship recipients stay connected by attending receptions throughout the country as well as Leadership Summits that take place every five years.

When asked why she established the scholarship, Dr. Holland stated that she is giving back to the community because of the help she received in the past. “I grew up in an at-risk background, and scholarship programs helped pay for my education. iGlobal is committed to giving back as well. We stand firm in our mission of being a Merchant of Hope to serve others. I believe that it’s not where you come from but where you are going that matters.”

The achievement-based Dr. Alicia Holland Scholarship is awarded to four scholars each year. High school seniors are recognized for their ability to lead and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities through service.

The program is open to current high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and attend school in the United States. Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary educational institution, and they must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher by the end of their junior year of high school. In addition, they must have achieved a 21 or higher on the ACT or an SAT score of at least 1096. Scholarship applicants are expected to provide documentation of active community service. The application requires a well-written essay, and students will be asked to provide letters of recommendation.

Dr. Alicia Holland is a Distinguished Young Professional in Education who began her teaching career at the age of 20 and received her doctoral degree at 26. She has made numerous contributions in research, leadership and community service. The mission of the Dr. Alicia Holland Scholarship Fund is to provide lifelong enrichment opportunities for those who serve as role models for others and serve humanity.
