Lamp Recycling Industry Veteran Joins Lighting Resources Tennessee

Steve Barnett, founder and former president of Southeast Recycling Technologies, Inc., has joined national recycling company Lighting Resources to manage and expand the company's Johnson City, Tennessee facility. He oversees day-to-day operations where the company recycles auto airbags and electronic wastes as well as gathering light bulbs, batteries, and other universal wastes for processing in the company's Greenwood, Indiana facility.

Johnson City, TN, February 06, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Recycling industry veteran Steve Barnett has joined Lighting Resources as Vice President of Lighting Resources Tennessee. Mr. Barnett was the former President and founder of Southeast Recycling Tech, Inc., brings over 20 years of recycling industry experience.

According to Mr. Barnett, “I have known Dan Gillespie (Lighting Resources founder) for many years and have great respect for him. He has put together a good group of people and a great national company. I am very excited to work with Lighting Resources and I am looking forward to expanding recycling efforts for bulbs, batteries, and other related wastes.”

Mr. Barnett is working with the corporate team to plan significant expansion of capabilities and reach for the Southeast Region. He has already opened a new processing facility in Johnson City, Tennessee, and new transfer stations in Nashville, Tennessee; Atlanta, Georgia; and Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Barnett has also added new capabilities for Lighting Resources at the Johnson City, Tennessee facility, including airbag recycling and electronic scrap and data destruction shredding.

Mr. Barnett heads up the Johnson City facility, overseeing its day-to-day operations where the company currently processes automotive air bags and waste electronics (e-waste / e-scrap) as well as gathering light bulbs, batteries, and other universal waste materials that are processed in the company's Greenwood, Indiana, and other facilities. Expansion plans include adding lamp recycling to the Johnson City operation and providing additional transportation support for Lighting Resources nationwide services.

After several years selling nationally for a lighting distributor, Mr. Barnett founded Southeast Recycling in 1995 to provide fluorescent lamp recycling to an unserved market. His experience with lightbulbs and premium grade lamps provided extensive knowledge of rules and regulations for properly handling bulb disposal and recycling, background that continues to serve recycling customers well through his new role with Lighting Resources.
