The Travelers Protective Association Awards Scholarship Grants

St. Louis-based fraternal benefit society presents 46 grants totaling $17,700.

St. Louis, MO, February 10, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Travelers Protective Association (TPA), a fraternal benefit society, recently awarded 46 scholarships through its Scholarship Trust for the Hearing Impaired totaling $17,700 during the 2015 fourth quarter. The grants, which are awarded nationwide to recipients throughout the year, ranged from $100 to $600 per person based on necessity. This quarter two grants were presented to Missouri residents.

Established in 1975, the organization’s Scholarship Trust for the Hearing Impaired provides financial aid to those suffering from deafness or hearing impairment. Grants are used for mechanical devices, medical and specialized treatment, and education that includes speech classes and interpreters. To date the trust has distributed over $2 million to approximately 5,000 recipients.

Founded in 1890, TPA’s national headquarters is located at 2041 Exchange Dr. in St. Charles, Mo. The association is licensed in 29 states and has over 24,000 members, which includes more than 17,000 members who have been a part of the organization for over 25 years. TPA offers fraternalism to its members, as well as participates in safety projects and community service. The association provides accident, disability and death benefits to both its members and their beneficiaries.

“This quarter’s grants paid for a wide variety of services including tuition, tutoring and speech classes,” said TPA’s Chief Administrative Officer Albert M. Shoemaker, Jr. “Hearing aids and audiological services are a necessity for so many people, and we are truly honored to help those in need.”

TPA established the Homer T. Wilson Fund, which provides emergency financial aid and is designated for indigent members, widows, widowers and orphans. The association is also involved with Children Have An iDentity (CHAD), a local and national level safety sticker program.
