Mindfulness and meditation practices have been proven by scientific research to calm stress, help focus attention, and calm autonomic nervous system “fight or flight” reactions. People who practice meditation say they sleep better, experience a greater sense of control over their minds and emotions, and think more clearly.

The guided Meditation and Mindfulness sessions will be led by Sage Institute founders Sean Murphy and Mirabai Starr (spiritual book authors and teachers) plus senior meditation instructors Hollie Laudal and Hannah Rappaport.

Sean Murphy, author of the American Zen book One Bird, One Stone and three novels, has 30 years of formal Zen training and has taught secular meditation and mindfulness practices for the University of New Mexico-Taos and many other venues for more than a decade. Mirabai Starr, critically acclaimed author of Caravan of No Despair and translator of the Spanish mystics, teaches internationally on grief, mysticism, and transformation. Hannah Rappaport, author of Love on the Brink of History, is a Sage Institute Certified Meditation Instructor, an initiate of the Western Hermetic tradition and an ordained Gnostic priest. Hollie Laudal, a certified mindfulness instructor and holder of a Masters in Divinity from Naropa University, has many years of experience in meditation and hospice chaplaincy.
