Event Synopsis:
Recently, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) issued a final rule to enhance protections for air travelers and to improve airline competition. The final rule imposes stricter requirements on air carriers and ticket agents for the disclosure of code-share flights and the use of biased displays, as well as expands reporting requirements for U.S. air carriers. At the same time, DOT has deferred consideration until at least 2017 of certain other consumer proposals, but has solicited additional public comments on air carrier distribution practices, including how and if fare, schedule, and availability information should be required to be made available to ticket agents and other third parties. Additionally, DOT also has asked for comments on how/when air carriers should be required to refund baggage fees for lost bags, and has announced new reporting requirements for mishandled baggage, including wheelchairs.

In this live Webcast, a panel of thought leaders and practitioners assembled by The Knowledge Group will discuss the DOT’s Final and Proposed Rules on Airline Passenger Protections and Air Travel Distribution Services, and provide insights into compliance issues and litigation risks.
