Stone Masons Success with t2

Cardiff, United Kingdom, February 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Corinthian South Wales Ltd. and t2 business solutions worked together for 12 months to create 16 new jobs and increase turnover by £730k.

Corinthian is a stone masonry company based in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan who specialises in the preparation and restoration of stone work. Founded in 2006, the company was purchased and re-branded by two new directors after the dissolution of the company both directors worked for previously.

t2 business solutions offers a variety of highly flexible, results focused business support solutions, including the General Support for Business (GSB) programme which is fully funded through the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Union.

Corinthian decided upon entering the GSB programme that they had high expectations for the newly founded company, and wanted to focus on the fundamentals, including the investment of new equipment, office processes, training of staff and general business and financial support. Aims also included achieving a £1m turnover for the business in the first year and create training and development plans for employees. The directors aspired to running a company that was committed to the development of staff and providing the highest quality of work to clients.

Prior to meeting with t2, Corinthian had a turnover of £200k in sales in the first quarter. Business strengths included the reputation of previous work, excellent skilled staff, equipment and directors focused on business success.

Fran Jackson, t2 business advisor, was assigned to the case and made business referrals to Opportunity Wales and the SME Equality Programme, and assisted with the organisation of a new computer system in which SAGE was implemented into the business.

The business was at full capacity due to the size of the plant, so investment in new equipment was put on hold and will be readdressed at a later date with the possible expansion into a new plant. Construction training was organised through the Construction Skills Council, and development skills for the administration and office staff was also organised, including training for one of the directors and two administration staff on SAGE.

Sixteen new jobs were created, including a Contracts Manager position, who deals with personnel, equipment and machinery requirement. Sales increased by £730k, and referral to the DELLS programme arranged. Corinthian is also looking into diversifying into other areas, and the need to increase capacity for this.

Andrew Griffiths, Director of Corinthian South Wales Ltd. said: “t2 Business Solutions was very helpful and provided us with both direct support and consultation, as well as putting us in touch with other useful advisors and contacts.”

Fran Jackson said: “Corinthian South Wales Ltd. hit the ground running and won most of their business via word of mouth due to their excellent reputation in the industry. The GSB programme offered marketing and business advice to the Directors, and put them in contact with various business support organisations. The result of the programme was great for Corinthian with an increase in turnover and new employees.”

Rob Marr, Managing Director of t2 business solutions said: “Corinthian South Wales Ltd. achieved high success from the GSB programme. With such a high increase in both profit and workforce, Corinthian was able to develop the new company as desired.

“As GSB is a fully funded project, Corinthian South Wales Ltd. was able to get the most out of free, independent advice. The end result was a great accomplishment and the t2 team is delighted with the outcome of the project.”
