)-- The Makeathon – celebrating its premiere in 2017 - represents an important and more practical part of the meeting. It represents a unique framework to show how technology transfer can succeed through networking. It is sponsored by Messe München, Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, Conrad Electronics as well as ITQ. Around 100 developers and engineers from different universities and companies will work together in teams in order to develop ideas and prototypes related to industry 4.0, robotics, IoT and automation.
Cluster Mechatronik (CMAB) and ITQ have organised the Brokers Coaching and set up various agenda points: On June 27, the main focus will be on status reports presented by each project partner. One of the main issues here will be a presentation of testimonial companies from Europe that have been acquired to raise awareness for the issues that are addressed by the project. Thereby, partners can get insight on how to succeed in networking and how to raise awareness for the whole project.
The second day (June 28) will focus on three training sessions. The first one will be presented by Dr. Rainer Stetter (ITQ) and deal with “Networking through Education 4.0” while the second one is about “Open Innovation” where Dr. Petra Püchner (SIG) will address current obstacles and inform the project partners about best practice.
Here, the NUCLEI innovation node managers will learn about open innovation theory and practical methods. It is particularly set to improve skills and prepare partners for the deliverance of harmonic business services during the NUCLEI pilot actions. Each innovation node will also conduct an open innovation competence analysis which will build the starting point to succeed in a collaborative open innovation environment.
Finally, the third session will take the ten project partners to the Laser World of Photonics Fair at Messe München to attend the first Make Light Makeathon there. Within this framework, networking and exchange with important stakeholders from different industries will be of great importance.
Another interesting opportunity is the RespiceSME workshop organised by Steinbeis Europa (SIG) on June 28 that gives the project partners practical insights to learn more about targeted pan-European collaborations and transfer activities.
What is NUCLEI?
NUCLEI stands for "Network of Technology Nodes for Enhanced Open Innovation in the Central European Advanced Manufacturing and Processing Industry" and benefits from a 2 million euros funding. It unites some of the main European players in the field of innovation, applied to the manufacturing industry: Business Upper Austria Mechatronics Cluster (AT), t2i - technology transfer and innovation scarl (IT), Cluster AT+R (SK), Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (PL), Cluster Mechatronics & Automation Bavaria (DE), communication leader ITQ GmbH (DE), Czech Technical University in Prague (CZ), ASTER (IT), Steinbeis Innovation (DE) and the project leader CRIT from Italy.
The European Union's most important automation and mechatronic industries are located in Central European regions. While their business dimension is intercontinental, their innovation-related services often remain local, thus slowing down the transfer of research and development results into the industry.
As a result, tech-transfer is an expensive process that often duplicates efforts and does not respond to time-to-market requirements. The challenge is to improve innovation-related services to accelerate the transposition of key enabling technologies (KET) from EU-funded research & Central European labs into new end-user components and apps for the advanced manufacturing industries.
NUCLEI aims to establish a transnational innovation management model in Central European regions to create a transnational pool of knowledge that supports advanced manufacturing innovation beyond regional borders.
