Apex Center, Local Employers Looking to Fill 1,000+ Positions at Job Fair

Marlborough’s largest job fair to host first organized effort to promote Apex Center jobs.

Marlborough, MA, October 12, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Dozens of local employers, including at least 10 companies set to open at the Apex Center of New England in Marlborough this fall, will be looking to hire more than 1,000 people at the city’s largest annual job fair.

Organized by the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) as part of Mayor Arthur Vigeant’s ongoing efforts to increase local employment, the Marlborough Works! Job Fair will be held on October 26th from 5:30pm to 8pm at the Courtyard by Marriott.

Now in its sixth year, the annual event promises to be the largest in its history, hosting about 20% more employers, who will be looking to fill about twice as many job openings as in previous years.

This year, in addition to showcasing a variety of local companies, including GE Healthcare, Raytheon, IPG Photonics, Western Digital, IEP Technologies, MHQ, Wind River Environmental and many others, Marlborough Works! will also become the first official job fair for employers located at the Apex Center of New England.

The Apex Center is a 475,000-square-foot mixed-use development that consists of a 150,000-square-foot entertainment complex, two hotels, six restaurants, and a variety of retail stores and office buildings. As the center gears up to open later this fall, the companies located within it,including Apex Entertainment, Goldfish Swim School, Evviva Cucina, MindTrek VR, Oxford Smiles, and Chick-fil-A, will get their own designated room at the Marlborough Works! Job Fair, where they will be looking to meet with candidates and fill at least 500 open positions.

“The growth of this job fair over the years is representative of the economic growth we have seen in the City of Marlborough,” said MEDC executive director, Meredith Harris. “While much of the increase in the number of companies and jobs at this year’s job fair can be directly attributed to the Apex Center, there are a number of other companies that have expanded and moved into the city over the past year, and that are also significant contributors to the rise in the number of available jobs in Marlborough. Our goal now is to match up these companies with our local workforce, and we hope that the annual job fair will help to achieve this.”

“It is amazing how far we’ve come in six short years,” said Mayor Arthur Vigeant. “When we first launched the Marlborough Works! Job Fair in 2012, we had about two dozen companies offering just 100 jobs. Today, we have about 50% more companies and ten times more available jobs. It’s an impressive indication of how much Marlborough has grown and of our ability to connect local employers with residents.”

Job fair attendees are encouraged to register online ahead of time in order to avoid long lines. Those who bring a printout of their pre-registration to the job fair will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a free tablet.
