Kelley Kronenberg Welcomes Partners Eric K. Gressman and Derek H. Sparks to Its Miami Office
Miami, FL, February 16, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Kelley Kronenberg, a diverse business law firm, announced that Eric K. Gressman and Derek H. Sparks have joined the firm’s Miami office as Partners.
Gressman focuses his practice on all aspects of liability and casualty defense. He has handled matters involving wrongful death, personal injury, personnel, employment, discrimination, medical malpractice, civil rights, false arrest, excessive force, construction contracts, First Amendment, the RICO Act, and civil theft claims.
Prior to joining Kelley Kronenberg, Gressman spent more than 35 years as an Assistant County Attorney at the Miami-Dade County Attorney’s Office. During this time, he served as the Chief of the Torts Section and received an award for exemplary service. An experienced litigator, he has served as lead counsel in more than 400 State and Federal jury trials, 100 non‐jury trials, and more than 100 appeals.
Gressman is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami Law School and member of the Paralegal Faculty at the University of Miami. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan and his Masters of Public Policy from the University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School, before earning his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He is admitted to practice law in Florida, as well as the United States Supreme Court, United States District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, United States Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit, and the District of Columbia.
Sparks focuses his practice on Employment and Labor law, Commercial Litigation, and Business Transactions. This includes working closely with employers in the defense of lawsuits, appeals, and administrative proceedings, such as discrimination, whistleblower and retaliation claims, misappropriation of intellectual property, and class and collective actions under federal and state wage and hour laws. He also handles trade secret and restrictive covenant cases, including non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, and advises clients on strategies to proactively avoid litigation.
As part of his practice, Sparks has also represented corporate clients in business disputes arising out of commercial transactions and investor relationships, and has significant jury and bench trial experience in commercial cases. Additionally, his background includes advising public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, securities offerings, and other corporate matters.
Sparks earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Southern Methodist University, and his Juris Doctor Degree, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Florida and California, as well as the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, United States District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, and United States District Court for the Central, Eastern, and Northern Districts of California.
