New Program Rewards Houston Residents for Recycling Their Old Refrigerators and Freezers

Houston, TX, March 27, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Texas Refrigerator Pick Up Program, launching this month, rewards Houston residents for getting rid of their old appliances. Residents can call to schedule a free, in-home pick up of their working refrigerator of freezer. Appliances will then be recycled and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. Participants will be awarded $25 per qualifying fridge or freezer recycled.

According to ENERGY STAR®, a 15-year-old refrigerator or freezer can consume twice as much energy annually as a new model, and, as a result, can run up significant costs on customers’ electric bills. Older refrigerators and freezers put a strain on Houston power grids, especially during peak use hours. This program provides a convenient and environmentally safe solution for old, energy guzzling appliances that take up space in Houston homes and basements.

Appliance recycling services are provided by ARCA Recycling, Inc., which has been working to responsibly recycle refrigerators and freezers since its founding over 40 years ago.
