Fracture Mechanics Lab Manager Joins Laboratory Testing Inc.

A Fracture Mechanics Lab Manager, with extensive technical and management experience, has joined Laboratory Testing Inc. LTI welcomes Dr. Mehrdad Zoroufi, who holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

Philadelphia, PA, August 29, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Mehrdad Zoroufi has joined Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI) as the Fracture Mechanics Lab Manager. In this capacity, he will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the Fracture Mechanics Test Lab and handling proposals for fatigue crack growth, fracture toughness, high-cycle fatigue and other testing performed by the department.

Dr. Zoroufi received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo, Ohio and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). He has an extensive background in fracture mechanics, including both technical and management experience. Most recently, Dr. Zoroufi spent 6 years with Element Materials Technology in both Cincinnati, OH and New Berlin, WI and held the titles Principal Engineer and Senior Mechanical Engineer, respectively. He managed large scale fracture mechanics testing projects, supervised teams of engineers and technicians and performed fatigue crack growth, fracture toughness, and low-cycle fatigue tests. During Dr. Zoroufi’s employment history, he also had hands-on experience with Fracture Technoloy Associates (FTA) test systems and software, which are used by LTI.

“Mehrdad has an extensive background in fracture mechanics, both in testing and analytically. Having someone of his caliber on board is humbling and greatly enhances the qualifications of our Lab, especially for project management and operations,” said Dr. Matt Adler, Senior Fracture Mechanics Manager. “Mehrdad is a natural fit with his years of test lab and management experience.”

Laboratory Testing is an accredited, independent materials testing laboratory that offers a wide-range of destructive testing, nondestructive testing and metrology services to businesses in the aerospace, power generation, defense, medical and other industries. Precision test specimens are prepared in the machine shop at LTI for all types of testing, including fracture mechanics testing services.
