ISEA to Honor Chris Trahan Cain, Respected Construction Safety and Health Leader, with Distinguished Service Award

Arlington, VA, November 04, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) will honor Chris Trahan Cain, CIH, with the 2018 Robert B. Hurley Distinguished Service Award at the association’s Award Dinner on Nov. 28 at the Westin Alexandria in Alexandria, VA.

“The Distinguished Service Award is reserved for an outstanding individual who has made significant contributions to the advancement and promotion of workplace safety and health,” stated Charles Johnson, President of ISEA. “Over her distinguished career, she has shown an unwavering commitment and deep passion for worker safety, and works closely with construction industry employers, workers and government partners to ensure training materials are developed and integrated into the industry.”

Ms. Cain is CPWR’s Executive Director and leads its construction research, training, and service programs funded by federal agreements, grants, and contracts. She manages relationships with CPWR’s external partners in the government, Building Trades Unions, non-construction unions, and the larger construction safety and health community. She leads CPWR staff in finding synergies among departments in order to capitalize on programs funded by different federal grants.

She also serves as the director of safety and health for North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU), the umbrella organization also known as the Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO. NABTU is comprised of 14 national and international unions collectively representing over three million construction workers.

She has been working in construction safety and health for over 20 years.

ISEA established the Robert B. Hurley Distinguished Award in 2005 and presents it to an individual whose efforts have advanced and promoted workplace safety and health. Bob Hurley was a life-long advocate for worker safety and health. He was also CEO of Fendall, Inc., the emergency eyewash manufacturer, and an ISEA Board member. ISEA’s annual Fall Meeting is the association’s largest national meeting, where leaders in the design, manufacture, testing and application of protective clothing and equipment converge to address issues affecting workplace safety.
