Abstract

Several decades after the start of prescription of Opioids in the late 1990s, the Opioids Crisis has become extremely rampant. This short-term relief created long-term after-effects with the alarming number of victims and thousands of filed lawsuits. Unjust enrichment and engaging in fraudulent and negligent conduct have been the common complaint of plaintiffs. However, due to the robust defenses from the targets of these lawsuits, various insurance coverage issues also emerged.

As plaintiffs continue to seek compensatory and punitive damages, as well as statutory penalties and costs, courts are yet to have an opportunity to review the scope of an insurer's duty. Hence, insurance practitioners will continue to find cases on whether insurance policies provide coverage for these claims.

In this event, a panel of thought leaders and professionals brought together by The Knowledge Group will provide the audience with an in-depth analysis of the Opioid Crisis. They will give a comprehensive overview of the legal and regulatory frameworks of this significant topic while presenting the latest trends, developments and updates on litigation and insurance coverage issues.

Key issues that will be covered in this course are:

• The Opioid Crisis: An Overview
• Current Litigation and Insurance Coverage Issues and Developments
• Recent Case Law Updates Scope and Limitations
• Potential Risks and Legal Pitfalls
• What Lies Ahead
