)-- The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) announced that McGruff The Crime Dog® won Advertising Week’s “Icon for Good: Social Impact” Award. Advertising Week brings together the world’s greatest advertising moguls including representatives from major brands, advertising agencies, celebrities, mascots, icons, technology and industry leaders. The 4-day event, held in New York City, hosted over 290 seminars and workshops, 1,200 speakers, 98,000 attendees and 700 media outlets.
Advertising Week celebrated the most enduring creative works of the industry with a Times Square opening gala and the inaugural icon awards ceremony on Monday, October 1st, 2018. McGruff won the award on its Madison Avenue Walk of Fame as a beloved icon for social good. Other awards included the following brand mascots/icons:
· Icon Millennium Award: Michelin Man (Michelin)
· Comeback Icon of the Year: Fudgie the Whale (Carvel)
· Rookie of the Year: Sprout (Green Giant)
· #Throwback Icon Award: Trix Rabbit

· Most Valuable Icon: Smokey Bear

In addition to the Walk of Fame Award, McGruff attended the NASDAQ closing bell ceremony along with many other recognizable brand icons and mascots. Lance Pillersdorf, co-founder of Advertising Week, brought McGruff on stage just before the closing bell and presented the award which was also displayed on the jumbotron in the middle of Times Square.
