The Richmond World Affairs Council Announces New Board Member, John Asbury

John Asbury, President & CEO of Union Bankshares Corporation and CEO of Union Bank & Trust joined the Richmond World Affairs Council as a new member of the Board of Directors.

Richmond, VA, November 21, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Richmond World Affairs Council is delighted to announce the appointment of a new member to its Board of Directors. John Asbury was nominated by illustrious members of the Richmond community and joined the Council last year. A seasoned banking executive with extensive industry leadership and community involvement, Mr. Asbury will contribute greatly to the World Affairs Council.

Mr. John C. Asbury joined Union Bank & Trust as the Chief Executive Officer in October 2016. Before returning to Virginia, he served as CEO and President of First National Bank of Santa Fe. During the span of his career of over 30 years, Mr. Asbury gained broad experience in commercial and corporate banking with positions at some of the most well-known and highly regarded banking institutions where he was responsible for multiple services and regions. Mr. Asbury graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, with a BS in Business and an MBA degree from the College of William and Mary.

Mr. Asbury will play an active role in the governance of the organization, helping the World Affairs Council to fulfill its mission of offering diverse audiences of Central Virginia a forum to engage in dialogue pertaining to international relations with policy makers, academics, and thought-leaders, in order to deepen understanding, find solutions, and advance international cooperation.

The Management and Governance bodies of the Richmond World Affairs Council look forward to working closely with Mr. Asbury to ignite critical thought and spark debates on global issues.
