Monitoring and Diagnostic Solution Positioned for Continued Growth

New PlantESP Release Automates Integration with Market Leading Data Historian

Manchester, CT, March 20, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Control Station announced the latest release of its PlantESP Loop Performance Monitoring solution. The Spring 2019 release further simplifies deployment at sites equipped with the market’s leading data historian while providing enhanced features sought by all single-site, multi-site, and enterprise licensees. The release positions Control Station to capture still greater share of the global monitoring and diagnostic market.

In its March 2019 report Mordor Intelligence projects a cumulative average growth rate of 30.9% across the data analytics sector during the years 2019-2024. With manufacturers looking increasingly to monitoring and diagnostic technologies Control Station has simplified the manner by which its PlantESP solution is both deployed and used. Since 2010 PlantESP has provided seamless integration with OSIsoft’s PI System using the PI SDK. PlantESP now identifies and configures a production facility’s numerous PID control loops automatically by applying templates from the PI Asset Framework. These templates enable PlantESP to scan the PI System’s hierarchy and to identify each of the many elements associated with individual PID control loops. For sites equipped with the PI System and Asset Framework the newest release of PlantESP simplifies solution configuration and provides rapid access to actionable production insights.

“OSIsoft dominates the data historian market in part because they make it easy for manufacturers to both capture and capitalize on data,” commented Rick Bontatibus, Control Station’s Vice President of Global Sales. “With this latest release of PlantESP we’re making it easier for those same manufacturers to proactively identify performance issues and improve their production efficiency.”

The Spring 2019 release addresses the plant-wide diagnostic and optimization needs of all process manufacturers. In addition to the PI System PlantESP connects to any commercial data historian using OPC-HDA, OLE DB, ODBC among other communications protocols. The release introduces a customizable hierarchy which allows licensees to configure the solution to match their control infrastructure. The customization follows the ANSI/ISA-95 standard for integration of enterprise control systems and addresses the unique needs of single-site, multi-site and enterprise licensees. It also introduces a set of composite metrics that characterize degraded PID performance as being associated with a mechanical, controller tuning, or process interaction issue. The composite metrics enable users to more quickly ascertain the nature of a given problem, isolate the associated root-cause, and initiate an appropriate corrective action.

“While making technology easy-to-use is rarely a simple endeavor, it’s critical to achieving broad market acceptance,” stated Dr. Bob Rice, the company’s Vice President of Engineering. “Intuitive design is a priority here at Control Station, and it has become a hallmark for all of our process diagnostic and optimization technologies.”

PlantESP is widely recognized as the leading, most intuitive control loop performance monitoring solution. It leverages existing process data that is stored within a production facility’s historian, and it complements both regulatory and supervisory control solutions from other automation suppliers such as ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, Siemens, and Yokogawa. Through the application of advanced analytics PlantESP identifies negative trends related to control loop performance. In particular PlantESP simplifies the identification of common mechanical issues such as Stiction, reoccurring loop interaction and PID controller tuning challenges. Today PlantESP supports the process diagnostic and optimization needs of manufacturers on six continents.

The Spring 2019 release of PlantESP will be featured next month during PI World 2019 in San Francisco, California. Control Station will again participate in OSIsoft’s annual user conference and partner exhibition. Control Station was the first supplier of control loop performance monitoring (CLPM) technology to join OSIsoft’s Partner EcoSphere, and the company is the only CLPM vendor to capitalize on the PI Asset Framework. To learn more about the Spring 2019 release and to receive a one-on-one product demonstration, visit with us during PI World at Booth 15.
