t2’s Success with Welsh Flooring Company

Cardiff, United Kingdom, April 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Peter Evans Flooring Ltd. and t2 business solutions worked together for seven months to create 3 new jobs and increase turnover by £700k.

Peter Evans Flooring offers a complete service for contract carpet and floor coverings for businesses. A family run business based in Barry, it was set up in 1963 by Peter Evans and wife Jeanette, becoming a limited company in 1969. The company has remained a family company and retains traditional values, with 40 employees and a low staff turnover.

t2 business solutions offers a variety of highly flexible, results focused business support solutions, including the General Support for Business (GSB) programme which is fully funded through the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Union.

Peter Evans Flooring decided upon entering the GSB programme that they wanted some assistance in developing a sales and marketing strategy to help them achieve their substantial growth targets. Goals included increasing turnover, diversifying into specialist areas and expanding the business internationally.

New managing director, Glyn Thomas, wanted to develop the staff’s IT competency in using the company CRM database and ‘Exchequer’, their accounting software. They also had a need for further software development to ensure systems and process efficiency.

Prior to meeting with t2, Peter Evans Flooring had a turnover of £2.7million in 2006/7. Main business strengths included an almost entirely blue chip client base accompanied with a position of financial strength.

Anne Derbyshire, t2 business advisor, was assigned to the company and assisted with the design of a new sales and marketing strategy. The strategy included client acquisitions, targeting and converting sales, and how to publicise the business. Tasks involved included the development of an e-commerce website, advertising and achieving overall business goals.

Anne referred Peter Evans Flooring to International Business Wales Advisers to gain assistance, which was the first step to moving the company into Europe. Peter Evans Flooring is currently getting ready to move this forward and progress internationally.

Staff development training was organised through DCELLS, and Peter Evans flooring are able to take the opportunity of 50% funding towards their training through the Workforce Development Fund.

Opportunity Wales are currently assisting in the creation of a CRM database.

Over this period, three new jobs were created, and sales increased by £700k. The company achieved their main objective which was to hit a turnover of £3.5million.
