Caster Concepts Inc. Targets "Continuous Improvement"

Albion, MI, May 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- At an employee meeting in early 2008, Bill Dobbins, the president of Caster Concepts Inc, set forward key objectives for the upcoming year. Key points included continuous improvement goals for the company. Continuous improvement is nothing new in today's modern manufacturing world but while Bill had emphasized the continuous improvement of specific products and processes he also added the continuous improvement of all employees' health. Specifically targeted at that time was nicotine abuse and obesity.

Under the leadership of Stephanie Siefert, Office Manager, Caster Concepts Inc. kicked off their version of TV's most popular reality show, "The Biggest Loser." Across the three locations that make up CCI, there were over 30 participants that took part in a contest. Awards were given weekly and monthly to the individual who lost the greatest percentage of weight. After three months a 100 dollar cash award was given to Jeff Dack of Parma who lost the greatest per cent of total weight, in excess of 11% of his total weight. In total the group lost nearly 300 pounds during the 12 period. Caster Concepts now will start a second 12 week program targeted at weight maintenance and continued weight loss. Stephanie stated that "there has been great enthusiasm for the program and it has generated lots of fun competition as participants would line up for the "weigh in" every Friday afternoon. The company has supported employee efforts and the employees have appreciated it."

A second part of the employee health continuous improvement has been the start of a "Quit the Nic" program that Stephanie has spearheaded. Stephanie stated "through the assistance of local medical physicians, Parks Drug Store, The American Cancer Society, and key employees in the business we have successfully assisted the smoking termination of 6 of our valued employees". It is the goal of the company to make the "Quit the Nic" a part of our company's continuous improvement program and assist our employees through the difficult time of terminating the use of tobacco. The long term goal is to a have a company that is 100% a non nicotine using company. Jack Turner, VP of sales of the Albion based company "stated that while there is a cost to the company and not everyone is successful, the culture that we strive to achieve is one that supports all employees in their struggles no matter if they are in work or out of work. The health of the company is directly related to the health of the employees".

Stephanie Siefert said that "Caster Concepts Inc. is dedicated to supporting the improvement of employee's health through innovative and interactive involvement by all stakeholders within and outside of the company. Employee health programs will be a key to our company's continuous improvement. These programs will drive the traditional improvements in key products and processes and provide greater value to our customers"
