Newark Gay and Lesbian Group to Raise Gay Pride Flag at City Hall

In celebration of the fifth annual Newark-Essex Gay Pride week, the City of Newark and Newark-Essex Pride Coalition will host a flag raising ceremony on the steps of City Hall. After a brief program featuring remarks by Councilman Ron Rice and local LGBT leaders the rainbow flag will be hoisted in front of City Hall where it will remain for the duration of pride week. - June 08, 2009

Newark Social Justice Groups to Host Safe Spaces Education Conference

Newark Pride Alliance, American Civil Liberties Union, Hetrick-Martin Institute and RUPride are collaborating to host an all day conference on gay and lesbian bullying in schools. Featuring the NJ Commission for Bullying in Schools Chairwoman, the conference aims to empower educators to effectively handle and prevent abuse of gay and lesbian students.
