Breast Cancer Awareness Month Pink October Awareness Line Launched

Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) is an annual global health campaign promoted by major breast cancer organizations every October to increase awareness of the disease as well as to raise funds for research, prevention and finding a cure.

Orlando, FL, September 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer through numerous channels. In addition to providing a platform for breast cancer charities to raise awareness of their work and of the disease, BCAM is also an opportunity to remind women to be breast aware for earlier detection. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month RocknBauble is creating their unique line of handcrafted Breast Cancer Awareness jewelry that includes Awareness Bracelets, Earrings and Necklaces. Ten percent of the Breast Cancer Awareness Jewelry line proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Organization.

About Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month's core message is the importance of early detection, with a special emphasis on regular mammography exams. Since the program began in 1985,mammography rates have more than doubled for women age 50 and older and breast cancer deaths have declined. Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Komen for the Cure provides the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) aims to have women of all ages know that breast health is a year-round concern. Early detection as well as education about breast cancer can be two of the best possible “medicines” toward fighting the disease. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women, and breast cancer recurrence is possible even in women who have had a mastectomy (breast removal). A manufacturer of breast cancer drugs founded the Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the year 1985 say some sources and in 1993 Evelyn Lauder, Vice President of Estée Lauder established the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon as its symbol. The objective of the NBCAM from the start has been to promote mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer. Women make up more than 50 percent of the American workforce. Approximately 44 percent of those diagnosed with cancer will be employed at the time of their diagnosis. Breast cancer is the second most often occurring cancer (cervical cancer is first) among women in Ethiopia. For more information visit National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) organization that is comprised of several national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies working in partnership to build breast cancer awareness, share information and provide access to screening services. NBCAM, and www.nbcam.org, are a year-round resource for patients, survivors, caregivers and the general public. Susan G. Komen has more than 100,000 volunteers and activists that work through 125 Komen Affiliates to mobilize more than one million friends and neighbors every year through events like the Komen Race for the Cure - the world's largest and most successful awareness and fundraising event for breast cancer.
